What makes a mobile app good, I have heard that question often. I believe it is the seamless convergence of our offline and online lives/interactions which make a mobile application good. How using technology efficiently solves a problem in the offline world. The two apps for example, that I want to talk about today are very different in nature but each of them have added a lot of value in my life and I use them very often.
As many of you know, I love playing golf and I have been using GolfShot for the last three years. I usually play with four of my friends but since work keeps us uber busy this app keeps us connected and we enter our scores after every game, wherever we are.
The app gives an accurate outline of the entire course along with detailed statistics. Before this mobile app, it would be a challenge to book a club in a new place. You look up on the internet, call the club and then the club gives you time to play. Thanks to this amazing app all that is now just a click away. So any country I visit all I do is book tee time even before landing there.
Another app I think is pretty great is Mr. Porter, which I use in London. This mobile app might look like just another men’s apparel shopping app but what distinguishes it from the rest is the service. If you place your order before a specific time, you can get your delivery just the next morning! This saves me a lot of time and I can attend to more pressing matters when I am in London.
We keep learning from good mobile apps and recently upgraded the Diamond Mobile App. A lot of things for which you need to visit the branch in the past have been made available on the app. Setting up your limit for your account would require you to go to branch and fill a form, this can be done on the mobile app now. In case you can’t find your ATM card and want to disable it, you don’t need to visit the branch anymore. Now, enabling and disabling the card can happen from the app itself, saving you all the hassle of visiting a branch.
