Social Media Week Lagos is a popular event focussing on social media and everything digital. On March 1st, I was in the panel of a session called – ‘Kiss My App’ which was about growing fan engagement for your mobile apps.
We at Diamond Bank created the mobile app to ensure convenient and hassle-free banking for our customers. The Diamond Bank Mobile App recently crossed 2 Million downloads, which proves that it is adding value to the consumer’s lives. Besides banking, the app also helps address other concerns such as airtime and internet recharge, book tickets etc. It’s a complete package. We don’t just want to be a banking app, we want to be a lifestyle app. A one stop solution to make customer’s life easier and convenient. At Diamond Bank, we also believe that it shouldn’t just be about ‘share of wallet’ but more importantly be about ‘share of life’.
As I’ve always said, technology is an enabler and is changing the way we do things. Social media has had a huge role to play. From being just about connecting with friends, it has now the power to create thoughts, opinions and decisions. It has, in many ways questioned the status quo. It has enabled small businesses to flourish and big ones to connect with their huge customer bases, directly reaching out to them. For instance, Diamond bank uses Twitter to solve various customer issues. On both accounts @diamondbankNG and @DiamondBankHelp, our customers send in their queries and problems, and we endeavour to sort them out almost instantly. This is #BeyondBanking and it is the way forward…
